? regarding Poser imports

I'm very confused . Why are things importing differently between Native & Transposer?

If I import using Native sometimes things come in wonky...textures fubared or on rare occasion the geometry is messed up. If I then import using Transposer, all comes in fine.

I guess I need a thorough explantion of both. I thought Tranposer was reserved for dynamic clothes & hair.

I'm just not sure what's a bug anymore

Thanks

The new updates (5.0.3) currently available overcome some "difficulties" but the difference between Native and Transposer are quite distinct. Several threads covering this but, clearly read the Transposer help which fairly well indicates it's "specialities". In simple terms, do as you have done. If one won't work try the other.

Hi dlk

I use poser 5 and 6 with carrara 5 pro all the time with no problems
Transposer2 will import poser pz3 files with models , textures , lights , dynamic hair and cloth and animations ect
The Native poser importer will import Poser characters with bones and morph targets ect , conforming clothing and comforming hair and props ect ,
import types are CR2 , CRZ , PP2, PPZ, PZ3 ect , animations are also imported but I have had mixed results with animations so i use transposer 2 if im importing animations The native importer will import animations from a PZ3 file but if I import a character and then try to import a animation thats a pose file it just adds the 1st frame? so its best to import characters plus animations as a pz3 file
I hope this info is some help to you
cheers senyac

Make sure the textures aren't Poser Materials (procedurals). You also need to make sure of the Paths and file names.

The best utility for Poser content is Correct Reference Pro, now in version II.

One of the problems, is that alot of the content files are sloppily coded.

Thanks...I need to go back to the manual on this. I'm not having problems since if one doesn't work the other will.....I was just curious as to WHY, sometimes the differences.

If you are using Native Poser Support, you should be setting up the animations within Carrara yourself, rather than try to use Poser animation pose files, or .pz3 files.

There are some bugs in native import over incorrect geometry, position, and posing, dealing with import of non-animated, non-dynamic, normal poser figures. I have seen it with every Aiko import I have done (wherein cr2 and hr2 hair both get deformed, reposed, and repositioned, as well as certain clothing), and once with Victoria 3 (with a bra getting repositioned and magnets being lost).

But they are, far as I have heard, being worked on.

DLK and Arcady, have you updated to C5.0.3 --the brand new update which fixes several Poser problems?

Yes.

On the Carrara mailing list eovia people have told me the bug is still being worked on.

I presume I simply found it too late for it to make it into the last patch. To my knowledge, at the date I found the bug, beta-testers already had 5.0.3. :P

I too have the latest update 5.0.3 and yet when I import a Cr2 that comes into poser with a hair prop, it comes into carrara bald using native import. I was hoping to be able to do some posing in carrara but not bald posing.

Is the hair object gone from the scene, or has it been changed in scale or location so severely that you no longer see it?

Poser figure Miki - clothing problems

I can open and/or import the Miki figure (nude) with no problems. (Although she doesn't start off in the traditional T pose.)

When I open/import some clothing for her and conform it to her there are odd results - with the geometry being totally deformed. I have also had Carrara 5 Pro crash unceremoniously too.

Any hints, or is this part of the Transposer buglist being worked on?
