reflection catcher - Polyloop

I'm not sure if C5 already has this, I've seen the shadow catcher (and why can't the shadows be soft on the shadow catcher???), but I would like a reflection catcher. Even a way to give a surface a bump would be nice. In fact it would be nice if you could modify surfaces from a picture endlessly. I remember using that evil program 3DS Max 5 and being able to do almost all of those things. I could manufacture the surface as a 3d model and go to the trouble of creating all the effects that I need, but it would be nice if I just had to apply a plane and modify it's catching capabilities.
