Sadot, I'm afraid I don't know much about the Carrara network render module - that is, if it is purely a software renderer or expects hardware resources such as a graphics card.

If the Carrara network render module is software only, then you should be OK... However, if it is expecting to call on a graphics card, then you are probably out of luck, as the Xserve Cluster Nodes generally ship without any graphics cards.

Yes, it works on this kind of system, if it runs under OSX.
But you need an extra licence, "Grid", to allow Carrara working on more than 5 computers for the network render.
Grid allow you to use 25 computers
And yes, it will increase your render speed
PS: sorry, I didn't saw your message before

So Thomas, just to clarify
• the network render module will run under Mac OS X Server
• the network render module does not need a graphics card present to render

thanks

Garryts: my mac at home is under OSX server
The network render will need a monitor to be install, because it request a serial, as the serials used by various plugins if you own some of them. But once launched, I don't know if it need a video card or not (I don't think so..)
Contact the Eovia tech support about this, they will be able to answer you a lot better than me (support (at) eovia dot com)

I think you should contact first Eovia tech support, because it's a specific need. Like this, you will have a final validation, before buying anything
