Is your manual right?

I have the CD version of Carrara 5. The CD has the PDF manual with it so I did not get the paper manual. When I look up things in the PDF manual like volumetric clouds the pages are off. I have looked up several things and none of them have been right. Is there a new manual for download? Carrara used to have decent manuals with the boxed version. If they do not want to ship the papaer manual that is OK with me but the PDF manual should be acurate. Can some of you look at the PDF manual on CD and tell me if the table of contents and index are several pages off. Maybe I have an older manual but I just got my Carrara 5 about two weeks ago.

Medea... Mine is the same as yours... But when you click the link it does take you to the appropriate section... So if it says animation page 746 and you click it it will take you to Animation but not the correct page number listed

Corndog,

You are right. Thanks for the info. If I click the page it does go to the right section in the mnaual even if the pages are wrong. It is still sad news to see this type of error. It does work so I will not complain to much.

I wonder if the printed manual is messed up? Does anyone know?

It is common practice for the page numbers of a pdf to be several higher than the book page numbers. The books do not put page numbers on the blank pages.

bwtr: Some of the number are off by an order of more than 100, and when the manual says "see page 500" it might take you to somewhere in the 700s, and it will say on the bottom of the manual that you are in the low 800s...

All three fail to sync up.

What I have gathered is that the "see page 500" was not a dynamically generated link - as such it matches what would be 500 of the manual on the CD if printed out, as well as what that manual says on the bottom of the screen, on the CD manual, but not on the online help manual.

See attached image, where when I clicked the link at top I ended up on the page at bottom. All three types of page numbering do not match each other. It is manageable once you figure it out. I have learned that the manual is best navigated with control/ommand-F...

Just a note if you are going to print out a chapter do not look at the contents and and decide from there... A chapter may be pg 13 to 45 in the contents but on the Acrob reader it will be different so when you prin, it will print the adobe page numbers so please be aware of that. You have to manually check the adobe page numbers

There are two version of the pdf on your CD. One is the actual manual that is printed and in this version the table of content is correct. You find it at the root of your CD. This is the version used to print the manual.

The other pdf is the online help and it was formatted in a different format and apparently that messed up all the page number. However since the links seem to work as expected I don't think it should be a big problem.
