| I am creating a 15 second looping animation of sky and ocean in Carrara 5 Pro. I've set the Completion setting for both my realistic sky and ocean shader to 0% at the first frame and 100% at the last frame. My ocean shader loops seamlessly, but the sky shader does not. Is this a bug or is there something I'm missing? I'm under a bit of a tight deadline and any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Rick |

Unfortunately, I don't believe any of the volumetric primitives or the realist sky clouds are set to loop. In order to create loops with the volumetrics, what I've done in the past is to use 2 or 3 versions of the same primitive, start one at the begining of the animation at 50%, then fade it gradually into a copy of itself toward the end going from 0% up to 50%. The end result (albeit with some slight blurring during the fading transitions) is a seamless loop. Can this be done with the new Volumetric clouds or Realistic sky? I'm not sure, but I doubt it. The Volumentric clouds don't appear to animate, and you can't create copies of a Scene Environment and fade between them. However, if you were to remove all clouds from your realistic sky, and use Volumentric Clouds, you could have 2 copies of the Clouds, and simply move them together, so that as cloud set Number 1 moves out of the frame, it's copy moves in to replace it by the end of the animation, giving the illusion of cloud movement, if not actual convection morphing like real clouds would do. That should, in theory, loop ok. |

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the tip, I was going to go through the work of creating a sky dome instead of using the realistic sky settings. Your method will save me some time. Thanks again, Rick |

Speaking of... After I patched to 5.03, I noticed there's an "Animation" field with a default number of 0.0 in the new Volumetric Clouds editor. What this there before? It doesn't appear to do anything, regardless of what number you put in there.... |
