Eovia work from two sites Europe and USA - here in sunny Cumru we have to buy from Europe (which almost doubles the price that our American cousins pay ) I guess a server in Europe cost more to run than a server in USA.

rant over

My point is ... you you have to buy from the correct site as they will not allow some people to buy from one site but thay can buy from the other site....so maybe Australia is now in the USA or maybe you are part of Europe

Yes 3DWorld magazine in a recent review on Hexegon had pointed out that unfortunate price differential.

bwtr, from what I can see the manual from version 4 and 5 is not all that different. I know because I borrowed a friends v4 manual. Searching the v5 acrobat manual would get you up to speed quickly on those new features added.

There also seems to be 2 acrobat manuals a full one and a simplified one. On my mac version the help section from the application launches the simplified version but by changing a text document in the Contents > MacOS> Carrara Help folder you can instead choose launch to launch the full manual.

For Mac: To open up the Carrara folder click and hold the cntrl key down over the Carrara icon > choose - "show Package contents"

No printed manual listed on the European site! Curious about the 2 pdf manuals. On my Win version I have both English and French but only those two.

The only difference between them is the resolution but the full manual is included in PDF format.

The difference is the formating:

CarraraOnlineHelp.pdf is formatted on one column so that it is easier to read on a computer screen if you cannot display a full page on your screen.

Doc English.pdf is formatted in the same format as the printed manual (on 2 columns). The content is the same.

Because I don't have the answer yet. As far as I know we should be able to ship the manual to Australia. So my guess is that someone made a mistake.

Yes. Pretend you are buying a new version of C5 and you eventually come to it. Most peculiar way of marketing it to previous buyers of C5!

Hi bwtr - Sorry it was an error on our US/WorldWide webstore, that restricted sales of the Carrara 5 manual to US and Canada.

It has been fixed now!

Thanks

Laurent, must say not impressed with the shipping charge. It makes the delivered cost of the printed manual A$83. Mike's new C5Pro Handbook has a delivered price of A$53? (Australian Dollars)

Must say I agree with many here...I tried to buy Carrara download from the US site as the price was better...it wouldn't let me. I even emailed Eovia from the website asking why the restrictive policy, but they never even answered.

To add insult to injury, when you buy from the European site, they charge 19.5% VAT not the UK 17.5%, so I got stung on exchange rate and tax. I assume it is the tax thing that restricts the US sales to us, but why do other stores allow it then ?

The only thing that made me feel a bit happier was the Hexagon bundle price, and I got the 20% discount offer even though it was past the stated closure date (so at least saved the tax).

If this is truly a global market...we should be able to buy goods from any country, especially when no physical item has to be shipped.
