I find that sometimes just opening a page on this forum prompts me to save a php file. I cancel and click the link again and it works. I use Opera and sometimes IE as well.

I would love to see that thread on Car Shaders. I have not seen one anywhere yet.

Cheers

Mykyl. You have those days too! Like your shader, thanks. This particular subject covered fairly fully on a recent another Carrara forum site hence probably the early lack of response. Even though I have X-Ace Plus I regularly get problems with rar files. Regardless of that, I am curious to know why your .rar downloaded as an .php anyway? It took me a couple of years to find out that, sometimes!!!, you can overcome problems by renaming file. Stuff thats NOT in the "every one knows that" category!

Yup I have those days. . SO do you know what forum has the info on Car paint shaders? I have done a search in all the forums I know off and found nothings so far.

The other thing is I wanted to create the shader using Carrara only. No third party plugins or anything.

Cheers

I can't find that recent site with a quick look but, possibly better, Go to the Renderosity/ Carrara forum and do a search for "Carpaint" Think it will make you very happy!

I actually put them in a new folder (called metallic paints). So, for me it was easy to add them. In the shader browser, I clicked on the last choice on the right (the icon will say file/folder menu if you hover your mouse pointer over it). When you left click on it, you'll see you have a number of choices. I chose Add Folder. At that time a box will pop up allowing you to browse to where you put the folder. After finding it, I simply clicked on it to chose it, then clicked Ok. The folder shows up in the list and the new car paint shaders are there! Voila.

And leave myself open for someone to say that to me - when I ask a question? Not on your life. .

Never be afraid to ask anything here. Cause someone may be lurking who needs the answer too - and you are doing them a favor.

Beautiful shaders, I love the depth you get even with a single light source.

I haven't spent nearly enough time in the shader room, these will make great tutorials.

Thanks again
Rick
