Dry Render node bug in Carrara 5

Purchased the upgrade to C5 pro a couple of weeks ago and started to play with it. Really very happy with this upgrade
I am having a problem with network rendering that apparently only occurs when I use global illumination and or indirect lighting.
Here's my configuration
Rendering computer is Powerbook G4 with Tiger
Render nodes installed on Quicksilver G4 and Mini Mac
I just used the default settings which worked fine (did not change anything on the preferences on the render nodes.
When I render a movie without GI both rendernodes appear and all is fine
When I render a movie with GI the rendernodes do not appear on the central rendering machine. The rendernodes both crash.

Even though no one else is confirming this for you, I'll mention that I think I've run across the same bug (after restarting 4 machines several times and changing the settings god knows how many different ways).

It seems that when I any sort of GI, all the render nodes quit and will not re-aquire no matter what I do.

Help Eovia!!

BTW, I'm also on macs. main machine: Dual 2.5 G5. render nodes: 3 1.5ghz mac minis

Do you use wifi (airport)

Just a question. In my machines I connect through an airport network. What about your network? I am asking this since apparently Thomas has tested the render nodes on macs and it was working

I'm connecting through a fully wired ethernet connection although there is a wireless component to my network (just no render nodes on that part).

I am currently trying to find a specific set of circumstances that are reproducible before I report it. gotta be a helpful as possible ;)

Hi,

If you could send me a file with which you can reproduce this crash that would be a great help. There were some issues with the beta version that were fixed in the release (5.0.1). Is this still happening in 5.0.2 ?

thanks
Charles

I have had the same problem with my macs also. Nodes stop rendering or crash, mostly using indirect lighting or caustics. If it does render I get these black areas where there is caustics, lights, or reflections.
