No doubt they will remove this from the Daz forums.

Read my post further down to see my apology to Craig Randall for my insult to him.

Wow, I'm surprised that you can duplicate something that's constrained in the first place! You'd think that the constrained object wouldn't want to move to where it needs to go, which may be part of the problem?

I'm struggling with a much more basic problem that I did a bug report on. The update installer for my intel mac doesn't work. I have C6 and C5, and the updater asks me to choose the folder, but then there's no button to choose a folder with! There's no way to do it! If I put my C5 in the trash the updaters run but then my version number stays the same; no update for me!

I spent like 40 minutes writing it up and doing screen-grabs with notes and everything just to have them pretty much not believe me. It seems like they don't even really read the reports because they'll say something like "Well, if there's no button then that means you only have one copy" without reading the fact that I DO have another copy, and the updater COMPLAINED about it. A few other reports I made were like that.

So, I understand your frustration. I'm not reporting any more bugs because it's a waste of my time. I'm glad that they do updates, just wish I could benefit from them.

Another thing to keep in mind is that programming this stuff must be mind-blowingly hard, like you'd need some very advanced math knowledge and programming skills to do ANYTHING like this.

But I wat an installer that works becasue my C6 crashes 20 times a day:-(

The thing I found was if I remove the constraint on the shoulder only then the rest of the bones along the chain duplicate perfectly. His answer of your skeleton is not symmetrical was nonsensical. Of course its not symmetrical. Thats what the blasted tool is meant to do. .

Right. To show that I am NOT unreasonable when given a full answer to the query here is what he said and following those tips I can now do what I expected.

I want to apologize for my angry insults towards him. That was pathetic of me. Thank you for the help in solving this issue.

Insults aside, the skeleton you sent me is not symmetrical because it has bones for the left antler as well as bones for the right antler; therefore the skeleton is not symmetrical.

That said, this is still not a bug. Since you never specifically said what bone you were selecting to perform the duplication, I'm going to take a guess that you selected the Left Shoulder. This bone has a constraint on it. If you duplicate that bone you are also duplicating that constraint. The duplicated bones try to move into the symmetrical position, but they cant' because they have to obey the constraint.

Try the following:
1. Select the Left_Shoulder
2. Click "Use Constraints" in the 3DView title bar to turn them off temporarily
3. Select Edit > Duplicate with symmetry
4. Select the Z axis (there is a known issue with that dialog where the Z axis is the default selection but it shows the X axis is by mistake)
--> You'll notice that your duplicate is now in place with the constraint

5. Click "Use Constraints" again to turn them back on.
--> You'll notice that the arm follows the constraints as you would expect.

Mike R. Please, can you explain? I don't read the DAZ forums anymore and I don't udnerstand your subject.
I don't want to see any kind of fight between two forums because one don't want to post on the other. Polyloop isn't here to do that.
Please, clarify, thank you!

Thomas feel free to wipe this thread from the forums. I was in a very bad mood that day suitably chastised when I received an answer to my problem.

Cheers
