This is mostly a curiosity question --

If you create an exact replica of a customer product (say a mustang), can you still sell it, or does ford have a claim on it?

What about something like a beer bottle, where you scan in the lable (I imagine the label artwork is owned by the brewer...)

In Europe, i know that you don't have the right to copy and sell a replica of copyrighted product, like cars.
Most constructor work with toy factory to create scalled model for kids (and big boys) and touch money.
But most of the time, they don't give a fuck about 3D Models.

copyright extends to "derivative" works.
If a work of art can be perceived to have been derived from another it is an infringement of copyright. It's a complex subject to cover here. Google for copyright laws.

Best rule of thumb:
Keep your nose clean. If it's not yours don't take it or claim it.

There are exceptions for editorial, news and parody.
Most often if you are not intending on selling it or outrageously claiming ownership or authorship there would probably be no consequences.

Car parts and cars have patents. Logos, and insignias have copyright protection.
