Carrara 3D Express?

It looks like Daz is trying to sell a really stripped down version of the software. If you cannot afford the full software just use DAZ studio which is free. Any thoughts?

Carrara3DExpress replaces the old Carrara3DBasics2 with a much improved UI and features. Not a bad deal for its current $19.95 special price.
It also support Carrara specific content that is now available at the DAZ 3D store.

Looks like a good render engine for cheap if you don't already have another one. Good for product shots from apps with no render engine like MOI.

It's good for them, C2 basics was a lot weaker than this and hopefully this should convert a lot of 'freebie" users so that they can help recapture the investment from a long development cycle and keep Carrara going strong. Now I wonder about Hex, seems like modelers are on the back burner again like they were a few years past and if Modo doesn't jump up front then I don't know what to expect in the next few years. Hex was pretty close to being the perfect modeling app and Modo is behind in some pretty critical areas if you ask me.

Recapture what? Carrara has possibly sold more with DAZ than Eovia every did. DAZ has a HUGE member base in their Platinum Club. This base generates way more exposure and interest than was possible for Eovia. Carrara is a win win situation for DAZ, a possible Poser killer and encourages DAZ users to buy content. Carrara is what DAZ has been lusting for.

Carrara is going to be just fine and my bet is she will be stronger than ever with the potential user base and pricing DAZ has to offer. WOW! Also same great dev team as always.

Carrara Express, very interesting and low DAZ price as usual.

Peace,
Stan

Yes

Out of the DAZ users base this can be a great external render...well most for .obj files, i dont know if can import other files like LW, FBX ...
