sad but true. especially in 3D. it's really a shame

I see a lot of "anger" coming from the Mac community(me) We are simply not used to software being buggy. Over the years we have become accustomed to waiting on a Mac release, but when it comes, it is usually rock solid. This can mostly be attributed to all Mac's having very similar hardware, and OS. essentially if you test your software on a "Dual 2Ghz PowerPC G5".... it will work on every "Dual 2Ghz PowerPC G5" ever made.

PLEASE, this is not to be taken as a Mac/PC debate we are just not used to having to find workarounds, or report bugs, so therefore, the current status of C6 is unacceptable as a production quality release.

I'm reporting bugs as I find them, and am trying to be as civil and accurate as possible, when I do.

I am also waiting for the upgrade next month, before I say anything I might regret later

I think a lot of people achieve some level of vindication from the fact that there are people who are having problems with Carrara 6. I haven't made the purchase yet, but I will. The service pack will probably be out by the time I do get it.

DAZ spent a lot of time wooing content users to use Carrara as their everyday app for everything. Programs like Carrara require a skill set that people who use programs like Poser don't generally foster, and that has been a factor in many (not all) of the issues I have read people report.

I believe that the hype surrounding Carrara's release is not relevant to analyzing what the program can do. Some people just have that tunnel vision mentality, that's all they see.

Displacement painting

Has anyone on a Mac had success with displacement painting yet?
Painting on a quite hi-poly model is so slow that its absolutely unusable on my G5 2x2GHz with an Radeon X800.

Carrara vertex modeler cannot handle the poly count needed for hi definition details. It's not a MAC issue. The sculpting is good for medium level modeling and details only.

Yes they did. The performance increases allowed them to achieve the levels that they are at now.

I'm a rank newbie when it comes to Carrara. I had Carrara 5 Pro, and never got around to even using it.

I bought Carrara 6 Pro because I can't resist a good deal... and the ability to handle Poser content appealed to me.

In my estimation, DAZ|Studio is a "Poser Killer." I rarely use Poser any more.

It seems a great idea to have DAZ|Studio and Carrara 6 Pro work together, handling Carrara stuff and Poser content.

I haven't experienced any bugs yet... I have noticed that your Poser content absolutely must have the proper file references before it can be loaded in C6.

So far my only Carrara experience was following the tutorial in the C5 Pro Handbook about importing Poser content with the Native Importer. Everything worked just fine.

I have both a PC Notebook and Intel iMac... I feel confident that DAZ will continue to give us good software, and fix any bugs ASAP.
