Havaing Hard Time Using C6

Hello,

Just downloaded the C6, having hard time using it. If I load any previous saved files. C6's menu just become useless, I can click them but nothing happens.

I know I can talk at Daz, but I belong here

I am on a older G5.

on the side note: its awfully quite here about c6 release..

I thought it was quiet too...I wonder if everyone else knows something we don't.

I have been playing with it all day and have not have any "problems". I'm on a G5 PowerPC.

Did you have any plugins before? Did you use TransPoser before?

Patrick,

No these are pure Carrara files. Also If I import a big 3DS file. C6 becomes almost non responsive. While C5 has no problem handling the same file.

But on the plus side, the Hair module is just so much fun and easy to use.

I've found for 3ds files and dxf etc,.. Import, immediately export as .obj and import again as vertex and you're in better shape. It's a nightmare trying to convert lots of imported dxf and 3ds primitives into vertex models unless you do it this way. The result is a better handling scene and easier to texture/shade etc..

There's too much entertainment going on at Daz right now and that's why it's quiet here.

I think a lot of Polyloop users already switched to other packages, or are waiting to see more about buying / upgrading to C6.

I will ask Charles or Arnaud if I can have a NFR to do a quick review (well, if they agree..

I picked up the upgrade, still had time on my PC from my Modo purchase. Most of the new features don't affect my workflow(no content, landscapes, or modeling in Carrara) so I'm still playing with it.

Question A mystery... or what???

Checking my records, I bought Carrara 5 pro as an upgrade from 4 pro on February 3, 2006, through Eovia. (It was a download)

Other than reading here (haven't gone to Daz forum yet) about youse guys actually having and using C6, I haven't heard squat about any upgrade availablity. Nothing at all on the DAZ site other than an offer to buy what I already have (C5).

So... what is the secret to getting C6?

Am I a nonentity 'cause I didn't buy it at DAZ (at the time I bought it, I'm pretty sure that Daz didn't have Carrara). I've had this program since the earliest days when it was RayDream, and suffered through the MetaCreations and other fiascos waiting until it stabilized and then went at it again.
Now, I'm beginning to feel seriously abused. I may even have to throw a tantrum and go out and eat worms!

Maybe I'm overlooking the obvious????
A publisher I work with is waiting to hear about this as well... I have told them how hot this one will be.

I even joined the platinum puppy club so they wouldn't forget me... my membership is still active, and I wear my secret magic ring most of the time.

Whereizzit?

Nate, I would think you would just use the upgrade from c5 to c6. My account at daz actually has on record when I bought C3 & amapi from eovia. If anything they may ask you for your C5 key.

Damn, I lost my secret magic ring

Yep, I found it.
Sorry, but I thought they would at least have a mention of C6 being available on the front of their site, send an email to previous buyers, or make some announcement.

So much for their marketing (they do good on the content marketing).

It's been in the 100 degree (F) range here lately, and this morning our air conditioner went on the fritz, so after I find out how much that's going to cost, I'll do the upgrade. There is an order to everything.

I think DAZ was afraid of the load on their servers (at least that's the story they're sticking to); so they've been phasing the product into their catalog.

At first was only available for people who bought during the "Buy C5 get C6 free" promotion. Now they're offering the upgrade and standalone Pro versions.

Next will come the upgrade Standard product and then the full C6 Standard.

I expect that they're waiting for the marketing blitz until all the products are available in the store.

Well I was one of those who bought the C5 waiting to get C6 free and this is the answer I got from DAZ

"You will receive your Carrara 6 in the order that you purchased Carrara 5."
