[CARRARA] CARRARA some time freeze, crash!

Hi, today while work with carrara5 pro after 1 hour of work in the shaders room carrara freeze and now all my work is forget.

Some time carrara5 and hexagon 2.2 crach in my mac 2x2,3g with 4g ram and g6800 ultra. I'm thinking to change and goto Cinema4D because lately many crach and freeze works and i forget more time. Cinema is more expensive but i hear is more stable. What do you think about this ?

I hope with carrara 6 will be moore stable.

Who have stability problem ?

Sorry for my bad english

i think you should expect that every program will crash. So learn to save your work every few minutes! It's a good habit to save you pulling out all your hair

It's important in Carrara when working a lot in the shader editor to remove unused master shaders every now and then. There's no "validate" button when you make changes to the shaders and the information just sits there and accumulates unused in the file until you erase it.

Dont worry save, until one day programs have a mind of their own then they will quit on you when they get tired.

@ Courel..

Thanks for the reminder.
I made my own basic lighting and camera file and put much of my new work in it to go to final. I overlooked the delete unused shaders and delete unused objects and over a period of time the file sizes were getting humongus and crashes were coming up pretty often.

One file that I had not done too much on was running around 15 megs when I went to render. When I dumped unused shaders and objects, the size dropped to less than 3 mb!

It is a mistake to assume that Carrara dumps everything automatically that is not in your current modeling session. It just keeps adding up on and on.

Hopefully this will be addressed in version 6, 7, 9...... ????

Oh... with Carrara and Hexagon (actually with any software - particularly 3D programs)...
Save often... and Save As with new file names (like doodlebug01, doodlebug02... etc.)
Don't forget to defrag them hard drives!
