| lens flair probs
I am having trouble with the lens flair not rendering in my animation. Using the same file, it will render sometimes and not other times. Without changing anything. Restart the computer, etc. Still random on if it will include the lens flair. If it does decide to include the lens flair it will render for the whole animation, and if not it is not included in the whole thing. Just trying to get this commercial done! (10 lights 2400 objects) Intel Cor2 Quad core. Robert |

The scene isnt being changed in anyway, between render attempts. Sometimes the flare is there, sometimes not. Last edited by rcoble; 13th May 2007 at 01:17. | |

| In this TV add the lens flare doesn’t happen till late in the animation. and when the lens flair doesn’t happen it's a huge waste of time! I even do a test render at those frames before to make sure its working, but still the filter will sometimes not be applied, when it gets to that part of the animation. One thing you could try is animating the lens flares separately (with no background) and then overlaying this video onto you main video (in a separate program) - not a fix for the problem but at least you can get your video done.

Well, 2400 objects is a lot and it makes me wonder if something is in there that Carrara doesn't like... If it works "sometimes" and not others and everything is exactly the same in the scene at render time then it leads me to think that the flair is being read as behind something, or right on the edge of something in the scene. These kind of intermittent glitches occur usually under those kinds of circumstances.. You might try and pinpoint it by simply copying the file into 2 smaller files with the lens flair in each one and 1/2 of the objects in each new file and if one doesn't render out right, you know the problem is in that half of the file. Repeat the process a couple of times by breaking it down and you should be able to pinpoint the exact culprit.

| The scene is a concert stage where the camera flies through with a lot of stage lights pointing (at times) into the camera. There are video screens in place of performers. I am making many of these adds with different performers. Each show has a different line-up. The camera is definitely pointing at, and in the beam of, many of these lights during the fly-through. To get the job done I have been rendering the scene's in pieces since the fly through is near the end, I can render that section several times, until the lens flair works. |
