Terrain editing

I have Carrara 5 Pro. When you create a terrain in Carrara.

You want to edit it you have to go then to the terrain editor and use the red circle to edit the terrain, see the attachment.

Q1; It is only possible to increase the terrain height and not decrease it?

When you go back then to the assembly room is it then possible:

Q2; Cut holes in it, to create a cave or tunnel in it, maybe with boolean cut?

Q3; Shape the terrain to any kind of form you might like?

Q4; To create roads or railways on the terrain?

If anyone could help me with that, thanks.

Terrain editing

You can use the terrain editor just like it was in Bryce. Draw anything you like, make it a gray scale height map in a program like photoshop, and import it into the Carrara editor.

Question 2; This is solved I found out you can do it in the edit menu, however you need to have the terrain and the other object selected at the same tim.

If you want a more controlable terrain, use a grid in the vertex modeler.
Start out with a fairly low number of quads and use the magnet tool to raise the grid into a basic terrain. (Hold down ctrl to limit the magnet to the z- direction.

Then you can subdivide the mesh & convert it to vertexes to make more detail.

Here is a quick mountain with a cave and a road done in the vertex modeler.
Note that my shading domains on the road need some work, but it was only a test.

Thanks for that tip, McGuiver I would never otherwise tried to do it that way.
