Do you need it in a still or animated?

not to tell you to go buy more plug inns but shoestring has a shader called Drip
http://www.des-web.net/html/samples.html

it may be what you are looking for.

other than that I would suggest putting a simple displacement map on a plane.

use "Surf" or "Intersect" in Terrain Tools

The one difference between Surf and Intersect is that Intersect defaults to Interact with only the listed objects so it requires a little more interaction to get started.

here are the instructions from Digital Carvers on how to use Intersect
http://www.digitalcarversguild.com/p...p?ProductId=19

1. Size controls how far the line extends from an edge.
2. Use the Invert function to switch between white lines or black lines.
3. Use Min/Max to set alternate values instead of black and white.
4. Falloff determines how the line fades from white to black. There are several options including custom. Click the Custom Falloff button to edit the falloff when Falloff is set on Custom.
5. The Interact with popup controls how the list below it is handled. There are two options, All but the listed and Only the listed. When All but the listed is selected, the shaded object will interact with all objects except the ones in the list. If Only the listed is selected, the shaded object will only interact with the objects in the list.
6. Enter the names of objects in the Interact with list, one on each line.
7. Click the Refresh button if Intersect does not automatically identify changes to the intersecting objects.
8. Use the Noise sub shader to add randomness to the edge falloff.

but you probably already read that

Hi,

yes I red this , but not very carefully. But finally I made it! I really had to use Intersect and in this there is a very impotant tool Fallof. I choose Custom and I draw verticaly a wavy line. After that it works without problem.

But thanks very much for help!!

Have a good time

Oh I see my mistake. Sorry.

I have my water textured INFINITE PLANE and have my boat sitting in it.

I need to know all the appropriate steps from thereon.

( I have been using the Terrain Tools for surf and beach ok but I just don;t seem to be on the right track with this Intersect idea)

Hope that explains my problem.

It should work just the same as surf, just remember not to move your infinite plane from its initial position other than up or down. And, make sure it is applied to just the boat.

Thanks Mark. I would never have thought to place it there. So different from the general Terrain set up.

At first glance though, I can not work out how you would use it as a "Wake"?

Mark. I can not for the life of me get your idea to work on a previously water textured, and bumped, infinite plane.

I am really having black holes the last couple of days.

In this particular exercise around the boat I would like to add the ripples and a wake effect and a bit of foam to go with it!.

Please.
