Thanks, everyone

I've been watching Mark Bremmer's tutorials... they're fantastic.

I feel somewhat lost and intimidated still. Then my memory starts to come back.

In 1990, I took a Computer Art & Animation class. We used programs called TIPS, Topaz & Rio. We were able to do broadcast-quality work.

Those were the days before Windows 3.1 and large hard drives. We tried to save our work on floppies, or if we were smart, we bought extra backup tapes.

I learned a few things back then.. I'm trying to regain that knowledge and learn new stuff as well. Things are so much easier these days.

I only wish there were a school here in Maine where I could learn this stuff. I really need the ability to ask a teacher questions, and have some things "translated" for me.

Sorry for the rambling message.... it's just the memories that started pouring in.

Now back to Mark's tutorials!

Apart from Mark having an odd ?American way of pronouncing Carrara, isn't it great to have a voice over that is so clearly understandable.

I'm an American, so the accent sounds normal to me.

He did mis-pronounce DAZ once. It sounded like DAZE!

I was thinking of making Poser or DAZ3D video tutorials.. but I'd need to refine my voice a bit more...

Altered_ego: if you want other peoples than native english peakers to watch your tutorials and understand them, then having a clear accent is always better ;)
Alos, I remember that hosting tutorials is nota problem for Polyloop (I have a lot of free space)

Thomas, it's always good to hear from you.

I don't have much of an "accent," probably because I've lived in so many areas of the United States.... I certainly don't sound like the typical Maine native.

I'd had some troubles with my voice in the past.. before I got my dentures... now I just need to practice more.

You probably know most of my tutorials right now are for Poser and DAZ|Studio. They're done in Adobe Acrobat format.

I believe you already have my one feeble attempt at a Hexagon tutorial.

It'll take me awhile to even think of doing a Carrara tutorial.... At that time, I'll be glad to share any tutes with this site!

It'll be quite awhile before I can even think of doing Carrara tutes.

I have much to learn.

No, I disagree
Tutorial are words and images. if your syntax is comprehensible (I think it is), if the words are right and if the images are talking enough, it's good enough for most of the users.
And even the simple tutorials need to be updated from time to time.

Understood..

I've been doing graphics tutes for over 6 years.

Anyone who wants a sample of my tutorial skill can just visit my forum and download tutorials in Adobe Acrobat format.

Most of my stuff is for Poser or DAZ|Studio.

Oh, what the heck. I did my first simple tutorial on how to import a Poser scene. Remember, I've only had Carrara for 3-4 days, and have much to learn.

Well, don't ever be scared. I hold the record for the worst Hex tutes ever made. I started doing them a week after Hex-1 came out and mostly for myself so I could remember the tools and shortcuts and stuff. I had pretty limited knowledge before hexagon and could only make simple shapes in the spline and VM of Carrara 2, 3 and 4. I found by making the tuts that I remembered things and they stuck in my memory better, so its not all about teaching other people, its about teaching yourself something too. Now I love wink and am refining my skills with it a little and will do video tuts in the future for things.

Altered Ego : your tutorial is simple, but in a lot of case, it's enough. Sometime, it's better to have very simple ones like that!

Like you, Thomas, English is a second language for me. I have thought of making video tutorials myself with audio, but I don't have that Bremmer or Berry accent. Then I thought of using text-to-speech apps like those with AT&T voices, which sound very much like native speakers.

As always, Thomas, thanks for the encouragement.

I may try my hand at a simple video tutorial in a day or so... I need to get a few things together first.

Then you can make fun of my mixed-up American accent!
