Quote [I wasn't even that impressed with Eovia. I think it was a pretty sleazy move for them to half-fast the update 2.1 for Hex and then jet.] Nice phraseology , and interesting opinion, however I dont think we will get to know this as I suspect the players cannot talk.

They're gagged with V3 lingerie, in a Victorian Closet (1.99 platinum members), in the Catacombs (by IPFreely) of Daz Productions.

HEY!!! Did Thomas implement AJAX???? I just posted this message and there was zero screen refresh. I'm impressed. I've been trying that for months and have failed successfully.

The Modo is actually pretty close to Hex - you can customize the thing so it works more like in Hex. But it is very expensive compared to hex (I paid about 60 bucks for HEX with all the discount etc.). I agree on XSI. It takes about the some time to learn as carrara, and it is rewarding. Not to mention it can land you a job if you ever need one. I don't know how bad it will hit DAZ if they don't realy do anything with these two pieces. We don't know the specs of the deal, but this is no longer pre-2000 world. So if other similar deals are indicator, the purchase price wasn't anything that serious in terms of the whole DAZ assets. So I guess they will try to go for some time with the "complette rewrite of core code" etc... same crapolla we used to tell custommers when we essentially didn't do anything new and then we will see. And maybe if you buy enough bras and hairs vor vickie, they will give you "C6-bra edition" for free.

| Lick it up ![]() | I'm a lucky bastard....
...for building currently this [WIP]Jaguar below without crashes etc....1364 objects and 560,000 more facets... (you even have some bolts on the chassis)Yes i'm think i'm a lucky bastard because i can read that so many people cannot do anything with it.... that's the only explanation, sure .... So yes there are some bugs i agree that's clear, but problems are usually solved by thinking a bit differently from the initial thoughts. So yes i'm pretty happy about the job done by Eovia Hex team with HEx2.1...

That looks nice Pete, good job. ![]() I think the more you use it, the less "bugs" it has... Most of them happen only when you do something unsound anyway and it is mostly about learning proper technique. It's not so easy for a lot of people including myself as Hex never came with any training wheels. |

do nothing with HEX?????? and wicth other software what can they do???i model all my picture with Hex... and no problems! yes, somes crach, but no more than other soft... and when u do stupid commands.. like press page up 15 times! o course Hex crach... the eovia dev team was a very great team! better than a lots... and better than DAZ dev team... ![]() http://forums.polyloop.net/gallery/b...?c=4&userid=35 ![]()

Then maybe my computer is at fault. Simple things like creating a spline, filling it in with a coons service, then chamfering the sides produces incredibly strange artifacts. Or like Oscar said: infinite disappearing vertexes. Like occasionally going to resize the object, you type a zero, and the damn thing disappears. I work on very low smoothing with my objects, because high smoothing causes massive complications. I believe one of the core advertisements was being able to work on a project with a high polygon rate without complications. It's true, some have zero problems with this app, but the reality is that a lot of us do. It seems its dependant on the OS, the background running software, your video card, your ram setup, the make and model of your motherboard, and how many kids your next door neighbor has. To many variables. If XSI does what I want it to do without complication, then obviously, IMHO, it's the best application for me. Eovia did sell short by not producing an application that was 98% bug free. I didn't get Hex 2 for 2 bucks, I paid $100 for the upgrade, and paid the same for the first one (i owned Carrara, so i was discounted). and in all fairness, that second hundred for the upgrade was unwarranted considering it was just a big bug fix for Hex 1. I'll admit they added some cool features, but why not fix the prior application first. I stuck with Eovia, believing in their product until I got screwed on the Vectorstyle thing (http://forums.polyloop.net/carrara-e...upported.html). Eovia sold to Daz and bailed and that's the truth. And seeing as how efrontier only bought Amapi, it kind of makes you wonder how much value they placed on the Carrara and Hex line to give it up to a content provider. I think I see a Bryce future for Carrara and Hex as well.

Well, I can sympathize with some of this for sure, but in truth, coons, gordon, things like boolean and even chamfer to some degree are cheap shortucts to good practical modeling. (This is not a slam btw) Show me anything you think needs to be traced and then filled and I'll show you a faster way to edge model it with 99% cleaner and as accurate geometry, I promise. ![]() That's why this forum is here anyway, not to point out peoples weakness or applications or companies, but to help eachother out. Methodology is so critical to Hex's performing well that it often can seem like the neighbors kids and stuff. |

why include those shortcuts if they're not workable? edge modelling? like Thomas' tutorial. I love that type of modelling. found it much easier to wrap my head around then box modelling for some reason. Lately i've tried spline modelling. interesting, but seemingly easier. that's why i got reliant on the coons surface. i'll try a different approach to things i think. I still would like XSI. like a new house too while i'm writing a wish list. LOL

Well really, what piece of software does anyone have that doesn't have a few worthless "features" in it? I can think of a dozen worthless features in My email program alone. Do I ever really use it to schedule appointments or use the alarm clock or calander and stuff? Bah... There's so much overlap in software of all kinds that sometimes its hard to pick out what's valuable and what's not valuable and Hex or any other modeler is no different. FWIW, I think edge modeling is much more intuitive than box modeling for most things too. Just depends on the general shape of your object I guess and what you want to accomplish with it in the end.
