Toon Pro plug-in

I have a question. Can the look of the Toon Pro plug-in be achieved by simply tweaking the various variables/settings in the Non-Photorealistic Renderer? Or does Toon Pro have additional code to really hit the toon look?

Thanks,
John

You would want to use the toon shader of Carrara. Go to the timeline or sequencer and selecet scene effects. In the propeties tab for scene effects you will see filters. Select Toon Part III. The non-photorealistic renderer does about the same thing but Toon Part III might be closer by default to what you want. The results can be very dramatic with either. Have fun.

Toon Pro does handle cell shading and edge lines better than the NPR or toon III options. NPR is great but not really set up for true toon looks. Toon III was the grandfather to Toon Pro. Toon Pro is definately an improvement.

Thanks

Thanks Mark! I was a little confused why Toon Pro existed if there was already a toon shader. It sounds like that's the reason. Much appreciated!

Toon Pro versus Vector Style 2?

Is the flat shaded method that Vector Style 2 provides, equivalent to Toon Pro, or does Toon Pro yield an even better cel shaded look?

Just curious since Vector Style gives the added benefit of then modifying the output in Illustrator or Flash.

Thanks,
John

In my opinion, ToonPro is far better, because it supports textures, you can specify the level of gradient you want and if you need, you can always ask Illustrator or Flash to convert the result as a vector image

Sold!

I'm sold! Unfortunately, now that I visited the Digital Carver's Guild, I also need to get Anything Goos, Anything Grows, Anything Grooves, and Enhance:C!

But I'll start with Toon Pro...

Thanks VERY much for the recommendation, I was a bit torn between that and VectorStyle2.

Merry Christmas,
John
