I've been looking through the Hex2 manual, and it is written in such a way as it makes it pretty easy to learn Hex2. The key is to go in order from front to back, as it seems each section builds upon knowledge gained in previous sections. Each topic does have some good step by step instructions on how to do things along with videos. The tutorial manual could have used some tutorials that showed off how to do all those cool things the Hexagon blog videos showed wrt painting though.
