Well ,BWTR I am at a loss as to how to assist you, as I said in a previous post the best thing for you to do is perhaps get a personal tutor to cover the aspects of UV mapping and painting. The fact that you are unable to accomplish Teyon's or my own tutorial which I and many other users find as simple as possible leaves me with no other recomendation. In mine there are actual screencaps of the process and I explain which button to push and when.
The fact that someone you know is highly educated in computing may make for interesting dinner conversation but has no impact on your own abilities or learning method.
So I ask again when exactly do you lose track on the tutorial, and post your screenshot with all the pallettes open when things go awry so it's possible for others to assist you.
