This message may be a little like Deja Vu because for the most part it is very similar to the one I posted on the Yahoo Groups. I figured that the message is the same so I hope you will forgive me for basically just re-posting it with these modifications in the header.
I know and understand that there is a ton of uncertainty about the future of the Eovia products. I would like to address a few of the questions that I have seen arise and hopefully help to ease some of the concerns.
First of all I wanted to state that DAZ is every bit as committed to the future of the Eovia products as the previous owners were. We have made a huge financial commitment and that is not something that we can or will take lightly. We have been providing content and software for several years and the main thing that we have learned is we are not in a content or software business but we are in a customer service business. That is one of the reasons that we offer a 30 day money back guarantee when it is unthinkable for some other companies. That is why we have provided to those customers who have pre-orded Hex 2 products that are valued at more than what they paid for the upgrade (essentially paying them to take the software). Yesterday, Bob mentioned to me that he had returned some cash to a couple of customers who have pre-orded Hex 2 because they requested it. My thought was that even though we may not have been the recipient of the money those customers paid, Bob was doing the right thing. I cannot promise that everyone will have a perfect experience with DAZ but I will promise that we are committed to the products and to you customers who purchase those products.
Someone had commented that they were concerned that their “new masters” have not even stopped into the forums yet. I want to state that in reality the “masters” are unchanged. Bob has become DAZ's V.P. Of Sales and Marketing and is now the head of that department. So Bob is now DAZ's an official spokesperson for the company. DAZ has also brought along the entire development and marketing team from the Mt. View office. We are so excited for having these great and talented people as part of our team.
People have expressed concern about the delivery date of Hex 2. I can say that the very same team that had been developing it prior to the acquisition is working very hard to get it ready to ship. This is such a great comfort for us as that when we acquired Bryce (two years ago) we were prevented from hiring even one of the developers who had worked on it for Corel. This made things extremely difficult to get up to speed and slowed down our ability to keep the product moving ahead as fast as we and our customers would like. I believe that the acquisition has had minimal if not no effect on the delivery of Hex2. It will be available as soon as they possibly can get it finished and ready for delivery. Bob will keep you posted on that front.
I don't know if anything I have said has made much sense. Hopefully the message that DAZ is committed to continue down the path of providing great products at affordable prices and we back it up with the best customer service we can is clear.
Sincerely,
Dan Farr
President, DAZ Productions.
