First of all welcome to this forum!
I have seen on Amazon that soon should be available a book dedicated to Carrara 5 (you can find more info
here), but I do not know if it will be a good book ...
I am also a newbie in 3D design and, in order to learn more on this subject, I have bought:

Digital Texturing & Painting

Digital Lighting & Rendering
If you read their description you can see that these books are not specifically focused on a specific 3D product but help you to learn the basic of 3D graphic. I have learned a lot of things from these books.
If you look for a web site where you can found tutorials, suggestions and tricks for Carrara ... I think that you already have found it!
If you need help or more info on Carrara this is the correct place to look for!
