Matrix-Inspired Mech

Hi. A few points I need help with; firstly, why wont the two pieces in the corresponding picture weld together? I'm using Amapi Pro 7.51 for modeling, done all in polys. Secondly, how can I make the 'eyes' glow in Carrrara 5? I've tried using 'Anything Glows' but it doesn't seem to work. It's now when I wish I had a faster computer... The tentacles slow things down quite a bit.
Cheers

Glow = Use a Transp. Glass on the eyes. Insert and scale a bulb behind the Glass. Change the light color to one of your choosing. Make the light as bright or dim as needed. Make sure "Light through Trans." is checked in your render settings.

Don't use Amapi so can't answere the weld problem.

In the Carrara tutorials section there is a good step by step on christams lights that will work for what you need.

For the weld have you tried knitting the tentacle into place on the back with facets?
