Warning Hello all

Wanted to make comic-book feel on this one, little play with some simple buildings models and ship I made some time ago, replicator tool used on this image and postwork done in Painter8 (flames, smoke and sketching).

Please tell me what do you think, all comments welcome, thanks !

This kinda looks like Sin City's noir affect. However, the ground level looks all blurry due to the texture applied to it. I've not sure if this was intentional or not.

Lighting-wise: you did a really good job and mimicing the effect that you are looking for. If you have Toon Pro, you might consider applying that to the buildings to generate an outline effect around them, which would further increase the look of it as a comic book.

Nice look. Cool lighting, did you use a glow on the building lights? My only constructive criticism would be that the two dropships are a little hard to pick out from the buildings at first view, and maybe a little bit of side or backlighting might give them more depth over the city If you are experimenting, another thing you could do is introduce one more colour to the mix .

Nice image - two thumbs up.

I love the strong optical effect you've created.

I agree that the street level could be improved a little, or perhaps made more foggy? Also picking out the ships a bit more would help to focus the eye.

Overall, I like it. Very cool style.

Warning Thanks people

It is finished work now, this was more like testing ground for the real thing, then anything else, to see what approaches are better then others, I learned a lot while working on it.

For some reason fog and volumetric cloud thingies did not interact with light sources as I expected them to, so that was major dissapointment, replicator was not able to rotate objects in 90 deegrees increments either, which would be very helpful for both (surface one and regular).

Lighted windows on buildings should be randomized, but replicators do not allow to have a pool of textures for each object, which is a feture I once asked for, any suggestion for solving this would be highly appreciated !

Cheers
