Yes, graet work. And great texturing! I hope we'll see it soon in a nice scene?

Thanks for the comments folks. I have an idea that involves 2 of these creatures in a stormy sea. Started working on it and got distracted playing with volumetric clouds . I also want to work on a good sea texture. I will keep you posted.

Remember to take an umbrella should those volumetric clouds turn nasty.

Bravo on the beast and look forward to the finished scene.

Looks very nice Tony I love the contrast between such a ripping facial look, and the calm fluidity of it's body... Very cool beastie :D

Right, well I've been distracted by all the fuss about DAZ and Eovia and the wonderfull world of volumetric clouds (pics to come). I still want to finish this though. Anyway the stormy sea didn't work out too well so I've used a scene I started a while ago but never did anything with. I like the way the light works in this

I'm not too happy with the young ones, they are basically just scaled versions of the adult. So I'm working on a young version, smaller, dumpier, larger eyes, etc.

I'll post my progress. Cheers.

Good work. The rocks look a little bit strange somehow, but the light comes out really nicely.
I'm looking forward to see the "youngster"-version of your sea monster.

Nice work. Think the jaw does not look anatomically correct. It need support of a bone would also give strength in it's bite.

Thanks everyone. I'm pretty busy ATM but I'll keep going until it's done, but posts might be a bit infrequent

JuST - when you say a little strange do you mean the shape or the texture. The shape is pretty much as I intended, alien landscape stuff.

Nice job! Somehow it looks to me almost like a Harryhausen creature, even though I don't think he ever did anything quite along these lines. Good retro design. The procedural texture worked out great, much better than I would have thought. It even has the look of a foam-rubber animation puppet.

About the rocks... this is just a feeling... They look very spiky and the texture is too even in my opinion.
Have a look at this picture and you'll perhaps understand what I mean.

Nevertheless I like your picture as I already said!

Only just noticed this - email overload so mised it! Anyway I understand now what you mean about the rocks. Although I was trying for a kind of smooth Rodney Mathews style I might try playing with the texture again.

Still working on the youngster when I get a chance. Using Hex 2 but it is hard on the wrist till they get the tablet mouse thing sorted out. Somehow, I just don't want to open up Hex 1

Update - youngster

Thanks for all the comments up to now Here's an update on the youngster. Smaller, relatively larger head, bigger eyes, etc. update done in Hex 2. No fancy stuff though, just plain subd modelling

And here's another shot of the adult for comparison.

Next job is into C5 for textures and rigging. Any comments welcome.
