Hey guys, thanks for the replies. Yeah, it's kinds like a mini on steriods. Thomas, this is a render from Carrara v5 beta. (default document with two lights.) You know, as a side note. I exported my model out of HEX as a "OBJ." I am not totally thrilled with the way it looks in Carrara. Seems like there are a few artifacts to the surface. -Dooki |

Finally done. Comments? Rendered in C.5 I'd like to render this into a photo. Anyone know how to do this? Example: if I took a picture of a street and want to put my model in the photo so it looks like it's really parked on the street. I'm a newbie so I don't know where to begin this. can this be done in Carrara? -Dooki |

Yes, you can do it with Carrara. You only need to put your model on a plan, which have a specific Shader : a Shadow Catcher (in the Light model in the top dropdown in the shader window) It will catch the shadow generated by your care on the floor, but this floor will be transparent to let the photo be rendered as your model. |

Also don't forget to had a light in your scene, because GI don't create shadows with the shadow catcher.... If it can help, you can have a look on the following messages i've posted a while here : http://www.eovia3d.net/showpost.php?...&postcount=166 http://www.eovia3d.net/showpost.php?...&postcount=167 http://www.eovia3d.net/showpost.php?...&postcount=168 While it's written in french, the screenshots were made with the US version of Carrara 4Pro

Hey Thomas and Pete, I just found my post. It got moved from the Carrara room and I didn't know it. Thanks for help guys! I have a couple of questions: -OK. I use shadow catcher shader. I then import my photo into the "background" and just render? - I'll also read in the manual that you can render out with the aplha channel. Have you used this? Thanks again. -Dooki |
