Nice work, I'd like to know which method you use to create your initial shape. I've used a few lines from front to back and ruled surface to start my vehicles. Also like to know which method you will use to creat the breaks for the doors, hood etc. As far as losing your model, Ive ended up saving new files at alomost every step of the way, usually have about 30 or 35 files saved for one vehicle. Amapi files are small and if I need to adjust my strategy back a few steps it can come handy. I look forward to seeing the rest of your project and discussing your methods. I'm attaching a new C3 render of a vehicle I modeled in Amapi. This new render uses DCG plugin "Shader Ops" for a fresnel effect on the glass.

Hi Patrick,
Like you, i use curves for create the entire car. Roof, glaze, cap (?), …, every things !
Of course, some time connection between all can only be done by poly'to'poly, and i need sometine to add tesselation level …

For the break, when the model are mostly done, i tesselle it (4 time), and extrude the middle range of poly. after i cut for have 2 différent part if needed. I will make a short explanation in pictures for more compréhension, because tonight my English look like to a drunked pig ! :P

I forgot, Nice Car
And about Fresnel, i usually use it in other 3D package, and that's really great. You can alos use it in the reflection channel, make some good result !

Very nice! Great modelling. I've been wanting to model a car myself, but I didn't know if it was possible in Amapi. Apparently it is

Amapi 5 and up can model anything.

yep, you can do everythings with Amapi.

Shonner, for this fast rendering (less than 10 seconds for each frame), i've use C4DXL with a basic HDR map.

Here it is !!! :love2:

I was waiting for the latest version of your car Hugo in the French forum, but u've hide it here !

Definitely a great modeling from a master and i still can't figure out how you've done that in 2h30 !!! I would need 2 months and half to succeed in that... Still a lot to learn for me !!

Pete
