Tonight I get to work (finally) some more on this thing. Gonna use AP7.5 to finish it.

The trick now is I have to straighten out all the backward normals on my drone. And there are a lot of them. Something I wasn't paying any attention to while making the model because I didn't know the concept at all. Carrara doesn't care about it, but other programs (like Poser) do.

This is my first model I've ever made with any program. I'm learning as I go. I thought Amapi would be impossible to learn at first. But it only took a week of reading the entire manual and trying out the tools along the way each night.

I think other models I build will be much easier to create with Amapi 7 Pro. I plan to make one more model from a popular Sci-Fi movie first before I start creating all kinds of original Sci-Fi themed objects and environments of my own. I have the costumes in my head for my Poser figures. I just have to model and texture them. I haven't decided on hair styles yet because most characters will be wearing helmets.

My gallery will depict futuristic totalitarian government scenes portraying political themes. Think Nineteen Eighty-Four, THX-1138, Brave New World, Things To Come, Metropolis.

very cool model with lots of details, cool!!

juste a question, in your tuto you say : "Move them together and use the Thickness Tool to turn the lines into four faces." (in first page, under 14th picture), can you tell me what is this Thickness tool? (maybe a screen of the icon ? )

That facegrill was the single hardest piece to make. I spent over 40 hours trying to get that piece to look right and be able to repeat it in the fewest amount of steps for the tutorial.

hum.. I was looking for the link of the tutorial everybody spoke about.. it was on your website ;)
Very nice details, it's great ! But you have Amapi Pro.. why are you using the boolean tool in Polygons while you can do it in NURBS ? By the way, the result is sweet

Because the tutorial is also for Amapi Designer users who can't do boolean NURBS.

Exporting to VRML 1.0/2.0 results in garbage objects.

Importing these formats back after exporting them causes a crash. OBJ exporting works though if you remember to triangulate your model first so that other programs that don't understand n-gon modeling can import them.

I ordered Carrara Pro 4 so that I can better animate this drone using the new animation import formats.

In which software you have some problems to import the OBJ or VRML ?
Can you explain more precisely which are the problems you have ? It will help to debug ;)
By the way, every software have its own way to read a file format

Ok, I'll take a look and send the url to the Dev. team

But about Amapi and VRML 2, it can crash, because Amapi can only read VRML 1 and not 2.

The manual says it import/exports VRML 1/97 which is 2.0 (and downward compatible to 1.0).
