Flipper plane from Laputa[WIP]

Recently re-watched one of my favorite animated films from studio Ghibli - Laputa Castle in the Sky - and decided to model the flying planes the pirates used in it.
The mesh is finished as in keeping it a low poly model but the textures still need a bit of work on them.

Model created in Hex2.2, texture in photoshop and rendered in 3DSMax

Nice work !
I think you could improve it if you smooth some parts of the object. They seems "rough".

I agree.

Nice job. I know it is meant to be low poly but I think it could do with a few more here and there just to smooth out the shapes a bit.

How may polygons have you got at the moment?

Thanks for the comments. I've tweaked the model a bit more and smoothed out the top section at the front. The model was originally around 5300 polys as i started to model it using Sub-D and now it is 4600 polys after tweaking but there are still a few extra polys that can be deleted. I've included the Hex version of the model here too.

I like the rust effects but I think they could do with bringing off the top cowling (is that the right term ?) onto the main body a bit ?

Could you post some wires ?
