Another oldie goldie from the archives - - A concept piece for a section cover on high-school football in rural communities. The editors wanted to do something that listed every team as words, had multiple players representing every team... just a nasty busy mess. It is a concept so I didn't bother doing real trees, etc. which would have been the case had it gone to a finished illustration. I liked the idea - forget the editors.

I'm glad you aren't.
Editors are not artists, but they think they are.
There are 1 or 2 that know they are not artists, but that is rare.

Usually it's a case of a company hiring (an artist) to do a job and then not letting them do it. They end up with the same mess they had before. It has nothing to do with logic or what's good or bad, it is a power-trip thing. They stew in their own juices. It doesn't matter if the arrangement is freelance.
