| Minuscule Bee
While I was surfing the web last night while I'm stuck in Stavanger for ten days I came across this site www.minuscule.tv The clips are funny and it's well done so take a look if you're not familar with it. Here is the start of the simple bee from the show. |

Mmmh, quite a complex shading you made up Grendel. Could you explain it a little to the community? I'm looking at the rear legs most of all... that gradient is really put well. I think there is something to learn from this little bee... Nice job as usual, by the way. :-) |

I'm glad you liked it, really nothing fancy regarding the gradients I'm afraid. Just a simple planar uv projection from the side and a gradient laid over it in PS. I've redone the rear legs to be more accurate with the show with the middle section being full of pollen with a hex pattern. For that I unwrapped using a cylinder projection and used a gradient for the color and a hex pattern on another layer with an gradient opacity map controlling it's visibility. I've attached both versions for you to see. It's not the prettiest map by the fingers but I don't need it to be for a gradient. Also an update, started adding the hair and put in some eye sockets to help frame the eyes. |

Thank you miss G. It's really useful for a noob like me to watch these kind of "simple" works, step by step. Much appreciated! That hexagons bump pattern is so pretty, and the leg look better now (less inflated); I see you reworked the wings shading, too. Brava! |
