Control Panel

Nothing fancy just an electrical panel I had to do at work for pre-vis verification. The electrical engineers are loving this, they get to send the panels to fabrication with a solid idea of the output. It also helps them with interface layout, I just print it out an full scale paper and they tinker away.

I love the idea of floating with a spinning head. Looking good and nice brushes metal fx. Textured or procedurals?

Procedurals all the way. Top drive control console similar to what is shown here. http://www.nov.com/Products.aspx?Pui...BZEJM9WE1SE9OD

Pretty cool stuff Grendel

So how big is this panel in real life?
those knobs look kinda small to be controlling something that is 1,200hp and can lift 2,000,000 lbs.
and what is the "purge loss alarm silence"? is that like a snooze bar?

I think it's a "don't ask, don't tell" policy for when a worker falls into the hole. the machine passes out a few thousand dollars cash to each witness...

...and the 'make-up current limit' sets the max amount of lipstick and eye shadow that can be used?

Thanks All

The panel is 12" wide, 21" tall and 6" deep.

It's not the size of your knob it's how you use it

The panel is in a class 1 div 1 area for explosion resistance so it has a positive pressure system attached(Purge). There is a internal pressure switch so that when pressure is lost inside the panel a light and audible alarm go off. The audible is irritating so it can be silenced but only temporarily so you don't forget there is a faulty condition.

The make-up current limit is set so that when you screw the drill pipe into the top drive the motor only draws enough current equivalent to a torque value.
