| [Carrara 5] Robotic Firefly
I've been lurking here for awhile, reading carrara stuff, and thought I'd post something I did for a grahpic design element recently. From what photo reference I could find online of robotic fireflies. ![]() Modeling time about 8 hours, lighting 3. Last edited by bitserve; 16th March 2008 at 16:44. Hello Mark, and welcome to Polyloop ![]() Interesting design. Have you got any more views? Especially from the modeler showing polygon structure. People here are interested in how a thing was done as well as seeing the end result.

Good to have you here, it's kind of hard to make out the under side. Since you used a chrome look allot of your surface is defined by reflections, using a black floor turns allot of your model black. Try using a lighter color on the floor and maybe a HDRI in the background to provide a environment for reflection.

Thanks for the input and welcome. The lighting was actually one of the things I worked on first to match the rest of the design that it was an element of, and then it allowed me to only work on the detail that showed. The client changed their mind and wanted to see it on a green backround and surprisingly the model still looked alright except the eye shader needed to be changed, and then finally, we went with a more realistic texture. Since much of my use of 3D apps is for hire projects like this, the meshes unfortunately don't often get rigged/boned or get as much attention as I'd like. I've attached a clay render so you can see more of the mesh. |
