Arby's Restaurant

I wanted to make another restaurant model after the Taco Bell, so I asked out local Arby's if they would permit me to do this. After a little negotiation, the Manager agreed as long as I provide them a nice rendered copy to frame for the inside of the restaurant. I agreed immediately. I can take any pictures on the outside of the building, but I cannot take my camera inside as it is against their corporate policies. This will be a long project for me as I am working in XSI as a baby user, barely able to make the poly's and extrude if anything else. I tried a couple of hours to layout the outline of the building and parking lot, finally reverting to Rhino for some quick curves and an Iges file to import into XSI. The modeling begins...

I am using the XSI 6.02 Foundation software. The Arby's restaurant is classified as a fast food restaurant, their claim to fame is the roast beef sandwiches, but they have expanded into deli and panini type sandwiches also. They maintain higher standards of cleanliness in the area restaurants so when we do eat fast food, they are normally one of our first choices. We are located in Tiffin, situated in Northwest Ohio, USA.

I do not know how brave I am, stupid normally comes to my mind. :-)

Yeah I guess I am not reading close enough. Rhino and XSI. XSI is too short needs a longer name so I can see it. Yeah those are all over the US they are a nice change from Bugers. Now that I am back in Pennsylvania I miss where I lived in Wisconsin had a Thai resturaunt across the street.

We made international news a few months back with a flood that hit Findlay Ohio which is about 25 miles from where I live. We received phone calls from all of our corporate offices around the world, because they have all traveled to work with with us and have stayed in Findlay while they traveled. They were all very concerned about our welfare.

Not many Thai restaurant where we live, not much of anything really to speak of. :-))

My Grandparents lived in NorthEast PA, just past Erie. I also have relatives in Meadville, so we have made many many pilgrimages to your part of the state Dann-O.

Piem - Ghosts at the Gas Station, I missed that one. Can you explain?

Lots of Thai restaurants where i live in NY, but not too many Arby's and certainly there is too much of everything else... I think your next model should be the Wendy's on 6th Avenue which made the news 2 years ago, in which someone videotaped dozens of rats having a feast during the midnight hours...

Sounds promising, I thought about a Texas restaurant with the cockroaches and scorpions. How about a finger in the chili?

sounds good. i remember that story. Didn't it turn out the finger was the person's own, which they'd cut off by mistake a few days earlier, and then tried to cheat Wendy's for millions of dollars? Makes me proud (?) to be an American

Just curious - Are you modeling this for fun/learning, or it has some professional purpose?

The finger belonged to a distant relative or something, it was not their own. That would be way to easy to spot. I think they are serving 5-10 in the pen.

Modeling is for fun and learning. I needed to actually do something in XSI, you can only look at tutorials for so long with nothing to actually test the knowledge. The Taco Bell turned out okay, but this time I wanted to include the surrounding area of the driveway, parking, signs, etc. It will be given away like the previous model, so no monetary gain. I keep hoping some day I can use this as a retirement project.

Not much to really look at yet, but I have been working on the sidewalks, trying to get blocks in place to eventually go back and split and bevel the cracks in and round the edges. Still pushing a rope up hill with my nose, simple things I expect to see in the package I cannot find yet, just simple little cad tools. I am sure that I just don't understand the philosophy yet of a poly modeler.

some Arby's-related news today in NYC. At a local Arby's restaurant, a van crashed through the window and killed a woman while eating lunch... I hope she enjoyed that final roast beef sandwich...

Helluva price to pay for a happy meal, or is that the other guys. They always did say cooking at home extends your life, now they really mean it.
