Poor Little Crab

Here's my latest piece... it's been a while

I'd like to thank bwtr and rickei for their suggestions with regard achieving a sand shader to suite what I was after in this particular image.

The other main application assisting with the image was ZBrush.

Thanks for looking,

Aunty Betty.

That turned out real nice.

you should enter this months Gnomon challenge. the theme this month is "Dearly Departed" and the entries so far are pretty weak... you've got a winner here

http://forums.thegnomonworkshop.com/...read.php?t=948

also I am very curious how you went about doing this image. you were obviously doing something in Carrara, and you always use Zbrush.... so whats the process. do you composite in zbrush???photoshop??
I would like to start using Zbrush's 2.5d features more for illustrations, but haven't really had the time to explore all of that.

Thanks all and thanks Rickei I have followed your suggestion and submitted this image at gnomon.

The piece is put together in Carrara for final rendering using a back drop painting. ZBrush in this case was used for much of the modeling and painted texturing with the procedurals and displacements supplied by Carrara. Lastly some tweaks were added in photoshop to fine tune saturations and make print ready.

your syle of image, and imagination, remind me Magritte, the surealistic painter...
http://www.abcgallery.com/M/magritte/magritte.html

it would be good if you show us the process of your work...
the way you make this kind of image... for example.

anyway, your picture here is another great artwork.

Dear behzad, the image has been rendered to be printed out at a maximum A2 size @ 300dpi.

Solt - thank you for your kindness. Perhaps soon I will produce some tutorials.

Blimey - gulp!! Wow.

Rickei just checking in to polyloop before bed.

Thank you my friend.

Being a bit of a pessimist at times I never thought I had a chance.
How very exciting.
