a mesh posed in Z3, my first productive use of z3's transpose tool, works sort of OK but the mesh still needs more posing and then tweaking in hex. Im working somewhat to a concept I did earlier. I work with a great sadness in my heart.

Small update working on posing the hand around a sword, initially I tried the transpose in Z3 but it is a bit clumsy for fine work, also tried manipulating in hex but in the end reverted to classic quick rigging and posing with bones.

Finished wrapping the right hand round the sword handle, then parented the sword to the wrist joint so I can move the hand around and get the sword at a better dynamic pose. , and a quick render because I get bored otherwise , but now this posed I will delete skeleton and export back into hexagon to improve the hand modelling and then into z brush for sculpting, but unfortunately I hear the dulcet tones of my beloved calling to go finish painting my sons bedroom now. So au revoir for now .

Thanks Tohezheng. I posed the left hand with bones also, unfortunately I created a small problem for myself as I had to detach the right hand skeleton to do this, and I eventually ended up exporting two objects, the base model one with a right hand pose and one with a left hand pose. I should have done both hands skinning and posing at same time. Fortunately I was able to recombine the two objects in Hexagon while retaining the UVs by merging the two objects and Uvs. I might make a tute on that one day if anyones interested, it was not a feature that I knew was there until I needed it. Now I am almost ready to start sculpting , but first I make the wings and some clothing.

Sorry for the delay, I am having to paint the house . I finish UVs of the wings, ten sets. Yes I know I should have done them before I duplicated them and started moulding them around, and I would have saved half the work,.. wont do that again. Any way a little trick for the UVs. I take a screen capture of the modelled wing. Turn it into a nice square picture and apply it back on to the wing as a texture. That way in the UV map background you have a nicely laid out model to move your UVs to. If you not understand I will make a little tute some time, it is like the opposite of applying a finished texture and then tweaking your UVs to fit. |
