This one has me stumped. More as a topic of interest, how on earth did the boring, semi realistic flames of Carrara turn into this?? Total render time: 5 hours (and that was low quality). Soon as this computer finishes this fractal (ie Saturday morning) I want to put this one in the pipeline. I reckon it would make a nice desktop. I've changed a few things, the sphere has been properly cut so that it doesn't show up the model flaws... that was kinda annoying. Also thinking about changing the glow colour, and maybe adding some colour to the glass. I was thinking about adding flecks of fire into the glass, but couldn't think up a decent way to do it. A 2 layer shader would do the job, but I have no idea what type of mixer to use.

I don't know what the image size is, AND I don't want to downgrade your effort, but I can not see anything in this that would warrant more than a 20 minute render time? If you would care to download your file maybe some suggestions could be made. I think you may be setting unnecessary rendering settings. |

yeah Not want to teach you how to suck eggs but, I think you got to do a lot more tweaking with your shader/s before you turn the render settings up to production quality, otherwise you will be waiting forever and not adjusting to get what you want. Turn everything down as much as possible and render small size until you are Ok with the shader effects. Many a boring night spent rendering long passes only to find a flaw has taught me that |

Any help would be appreciated! I've included the file here, and yes, I am a newbie to Carrara... Time isn't really a problem right now, it's sunny and hot, so I'm outdoors all the time :D As a side note, I love the way the forum uploads, THEN checks the extension...

The first thing I did was to set the render settings back to default. See the Print screen. The darker image has the infinite plain,Fire,Anything Glows off as well. The render time is 3 and a half minutes! That shows where all the render time is taking place. The final image has the Carrara default render settings, Anything glows to all EXCEPT Cut 1 and Smoothing5. The render time, on my machine, is nearly 2 hours. Hope you find of value and interest. I started with a new document to set the rendersettings to default. And then imported FireLilly.car in. It did still take to long to render. Then I checked the objects and shaders. One of the things I have learned to do as a habitt is to Remove unused masters. Carrara seems to be a bit sentimental, and likes to keeps all its memories in .. its memory. That did it . Render time to 2.24. Hope this will help you. |
