Smile """C6P Packaging"""

No is not the official packaging for C6P, but I could dream .

Anyways, I decide to do a package design for C6P to see what it would looks like if it ever comes out . It's based on Carrara 4's package.

LAYOUT

COVER

PACKAGE

Breakdown:

The layout was done in illustrator in actual size.
The cover was render in Carrara and brought to illustrator for the finishing touches.
The display was modeled in Hex, aswell as UV's and even though the shape is a rectangle, it gave me problems.
Render in Carrara using Ambient Occlusion present.

C&C are welcome

okay, I am the first one again to comment, I love it, beautiful, do you do package design all the time?? Is this setup for printers?

I love your feedback in case one day I need you to design me package design for printing.

I also hope Daz looks at this and gets excited about it, Hope they will buy the rights from you.

behzad: Thank you , it's 21in and 16in so I guest is good for printing, which I'll probably will for portfolio reasons. And no I don't do packaging design all the time, but is fun.
So I do encourage you too try it.

I believe Daz won't get exited, but if they do, they will probably modified the template 35% [I think that's the magic number] and make it their own.

jbshorty: It's the same as number 4, but I guest I should of made some new features, just as tease.

I am a graphic designer and still do not know how to setup a package design for printers. I think it is an unknown area. Like the folds and trim lines, it would be something that I really like to learn.

The package design printers provide you with die lines, for the basic stuff like boxes. But all they need are a set of vector lines for cuts and folds for custom designs. I do lot's of them

mon_stdnt: very clean...I like it , but you are missing the glue tab

You mean the tabs where you glue and cut the paper?
They are their, is just that they are not label. The bottom tabs from the side panel are the ones that get glued to the long parts. Then a transparent circle sticker connects the bottom long tabs.

just the side tab that glues to the front.
see attachment...the red part
but your box may vary.(there are several ways to do a box like this)

this would be a pretty basic "wrap" for a stronger cardboard box that actually holds everything. So integrity in the strength, is not really an issue. I've seen these done several different ways. It's usually up to the printer as to how it all comes together based on what machinery they have and how much "Hand Work" (ie. hand folding, applying stickers or labels), you can afford.

behzad: I'll try to start a thread in the 2D section to post some package and POS examples. I'd like to see what other people around here have done too.

Great, I just started to study Graphic design and now I am on the part about the design to be sent to the press, so it would be an awesome idea if you can start another thread about this topic, maybe some tutorials, ideas, tips, etc.

and............ we sure as hell wouldn't print an image or varnish on glue flaps either. They are always plain. with the odd exception of perhaps register marks.

But a very nice design, well done.
