I have seen this work on the Zbrush forum ... and it is said there, that you have only used Zbrush and Carrara to make this image ... I was sure that you had used Photoshop or an other 2d soft to make so precise and fine textures and details ... Did you use Zbrush 3 for this image ... Is there new fonctions that allow such precise shading ... It would be interestig to see a tutorial showing the technique used to obtain such an excellent finishing ...

Excellent work! Sorry for my english.

Hi Luko the finish is all down to baking the lighting and materials on the objects in their seperate layers. Lighting can then be further enhanced by using some of the fx brushes on the layers and items.

The material used is a very simple metalic with mid specularity and some bump and different elements use a variation on this as well as using varying diffuse qualities to create faux lighting fx.

Parts of the mesh's were from hexegon re-modelled in ZBrush but all the render work, scene construction and finish uses ZBrush right down to the shadows which were painted using stencils.

Remember also as well as texturing mesh's using projection master you can also futher texture the object once it is snapshot onto the canvas layer as pixols as well as adding bumps and displacement and material changes should you wish. In this way you enhance your final render within Zbrush just as you do in any painting package but in 2.5D not 2D.
Sometimes it's far quicker just to paint the pixols once they're placed on to the canvas - rather than using projection master. After all your only then seeing the part of the mesh facing you through the clipping plane.

Once you have the experience it is an incredibly fast method of working!!

I've recently gone back to ZBrush because I adore this method of working but it's not great for scenes that require complex perspective for this I would tend to use Carrara and occassionaly Lightwave if I need certain results.

The piece from start to finish took three hours to complete working in ZBrush V2.

Thank you very much Aunty ! I am not sure to understand all what you have written here. I have to admit that it make less than three weeks that i use Zbrush. Anyway, first i'll have to translate and understand your text ... Then see if i can do what all this refer to. I keep all this text as an excellent reference ...

Being a chef by trade for 27 years i can strongly relate to this subject matter , such as this , my occupation puts you thru the meat grinder. And there is always one of your staff that would like to put a knife in your back. And when you run out of filet mignon switch to rabbit and call it a rustic dish, like it was all premeditated! love your style man !
Regards , Michael.
