Rustic Building

Complete model in Cinema 4-D v.9.6 , i think i am starting to get the hang of Cinemas modeling options but still have a long ways to go , i really like the work flow on this app. I applied a quick texture skin and it needs to be adjusted in many aeras , along with some modeling adjustments on the form of the building and it's exterior electrical work, also i plan to use body paint to add alot of mold on the side of the walls if all goes well, like i said i am just starting to get a handle on this awesome app ! Thanks for taking a peek and have a great week.

Take care : Michael.

Well, the mesh could be a little cleaner, particulary the areas around the windows, but its a little detail in the grand scheme of things and no real biggy. I'm always very impressed by your work and love the way you handle these scenes.

I'm really curious about C4D and Body Paint in particular and have been sort of waiting around until the right painting app comes along for me. To be honest, I'm not happy UV mapping textures and going through all that stuff in Carrrara. I can do it, I just don't like doing it. I can model well enough in Amapi and Hex now and I'm waiting for the Hex equivelent of a paint app before I try to really round out some images.
Zbrush-3, maybe, C4D and Bodypaint? A bit too spendy for me, Modo, yada yada... I don't want to reinvent the wheel or the software, I just want a little better painting capability.
Keep it up Michael, I'm sure this will end up being another gem.

Steven

Still in use and always will be !

Hello behazd thanks for stopping in and great to here from you ! . I still use Carrara and always will just some times it's nice to have a certain edge for certain projects, Carrara has one of the most comfortable feel to it, especially if you were weaned on it ! Thanks again, Michael.

your work is always inspiring. Just a question I have, I have the book cinema 4D R8 handbook by adam watkins, would that still be good to learn the latest version of Maxon, of course that is if I buy it.

Also please answer this question I have on the ( Misc - discussions, what you want) section. I would love to hear your opinions on it too.

Look forward to seeing what direction you take the render. Will it be sunny, raining, snowing? Another fine architectural piece in the making.
At the moment their is a slight spooky air of claustrophobia to the piece - like an alley in a dream.

I never could make head nor tail of C4D - too many weird icons and a texturing approach and workflow that didn't seem intuitive too me - particularly it's use of tags (why?). I hear great things about it albeit mainly it's stability rather than it's creative aspects but would certainly be interested in why you enjoy working with it rather than the hype.

Thanks for the wonderfull comments Loloallo , Pete , and Aunty Betty and yes i am trying for that closed in feeling a thick atmosphere it will be cloudy or overcast kind of a blank color pallet.
And one of the main reasons what i like about C4-D Aunty Betty is the way you can manipulate the mats in the texture room many more options than in other apps, a key factor that sold me was the final image quallity is much more cleanrer and defined not to mention countless others , i find it to be a very stable app the learning curve is not as bad as i thought it would be .
Thanks again for taking a peek, Michael

Would it be possible for you to make a texturing and rendering tutorial? You can't begin to know how much a beginner like myself would like to see how a master does it.

PS, Your work is some of the best I've seen on the net.

Odessey - thanks for that feedback on C4D.

Does the image at the moment contain any displacements or is what we're seeing at this stage all bump work?

Displacements

Actually no displacements were used at all Aunty Betty what i did do is take the mat or mats several of them and eventually combine into one thru Body Paint and its layering system useing effect tools such as blending , embossing , and adding ageing thru Body Paints unique brush set up not like any i have seen before like in other paint programs such as Photo Shop or Corel like i used to use , it is a bit tricky at first but it will make you come back for more once learned .

And Wingnut thanks for the more than kind words there is a lot of tallented artists here in this community that are far better than i i think that every one excels in certain aeras Thanks so much !

Rustic Buildind WIP Update

Hello friends , here is a little update on my Cinema 4-D project which was modeled in Cinema 4-D. Still needs a little work on the mats and sun direction and ground effects, maybe a cart , barrels filler objects rubble etc. etc.
Thanks for stopping by, Michael.

I Like it, have you seen the movie silent Hill? It reminds me of that kind of effect. Spooky and haunted. How do you like Maxon so far?
