House painting

Hey ,

Here is a drawing/painting I did of the house on Kyle XY tv show, this image is going to be part of a poster type image for the tv show. I am doing this mostly to get better and more comfortable at my drawing and painting within the computer
I set up the perspective grid layer and made it semi transparent and then I drew the house from my reference images. I set up another layer and then started painting in the colors, I used Jungle bundle for the leaves and Corel photopaint for the rest.
This is quite a bit different from my 3d house renders but I think it turned out okay.

Mike

very nice! why bother with 3D modeling if you can do this much fatser in 2D? I am crippled in that i must use 3D to counterbalance my lack of artistic ability

Hey Jbshorty,

Well , this took me quite a while to do . I didn't really know how to set up the perspective lines in my drawing program , so there was alot of trial and errors involved.
Typically I would model the house in 3d then add all the landscaping and sky in 2d . I would also rely on stock models for doors, windows etc. which speeds things up.
I will post the poster image when I am done and thanks for the comments.

Mike

You could set up the perspective lines in 3D (maybe in a CAD program) and use a render or screencapture as the guidelines, no?... However you arrive to the finished image, i am always jealous when i see nice work produced in 2D...

Any of the 10-40 dollar house/dxf proggy's will get you the basic form up pretty quick and C5-P makes bringing them in simple. With a little cleaning up in the VM, you can get nice results real fast... I have floorplan 10 and it's ok, but floorplan 9 is about the same for 10 bucks. Just click a little here and there and export mostly

I like how the image looks almost like it has Ambient Occlusion on, pretty stellar 2d work there Mike.
