| Comic using Carrara
I know it's been a while but here are more pages from my on-line comic, built using Carrara and photoshop... Any comments/ ideas for improvement, etc, will be greatly appreciated (By the way, you can read the entire comic here )

nice work! but, i do not, or i can't see a 3D effect or aspect in these comic illustrations ... you can get the same thing with a 2d or traditionnal drawing...

The ships and characters are built in Carrara... well the characters are simple shapes that are 'drawn over' in photoshop. Each panel is positioned and rendered in carrara, transferred into photoshop and 'finished off'. Some panels are entirely built and rendered in Carrara (the first six or seven pages of the comic, viewable from the link in thie original post).

Not that there is something wrong about these comics - I think they are great, and a whole lot different then the usual comics. It just seems easier and quicker. But then again, buy working them over in Photoshop you have more control over the appearance of the models. What a great idea! Really like it! Jacqueline | |

Down the track I may have every character completely built and rigged. I think it would be wrong to do that from the beginning of a comic because the 'evolution' of characters is very important. Characters change in subtle ways as the artist refines the technique and personality of each one, often over many years. That is why they are simple shapes at the moment, without ears, hair, eyes, mouths, hands and feet. They're not even rigged, I just rotate the various elements individually until I have the pose I want. Some backgrounds are Carrara, some are just photographs.

Am to much of a newbie to look into the subject of rigging myself...! But you are better off of course when you edit the cartoons in Photoshop and add the 'personality' details there. Still think that this is a great way to make up a cartoon or any illustration! Do you have more going on? Jacqueline |

Went and had a look at your site. I enjoyed the first few pages of the comic - good stuff. Though I tend to agree with Fin - I'd have gone for the cool red ship
