Nice update, looks good with a background.
Abdomen is really nicely done right now, looks pretty finished up in that area.
The lighting on the right leg(left in the picture) seems a bit bright compared to the lighting on the rest of the body.
Considering the angle of the leg and light, being almost the same direction, and possibly the body casting shade over it, it stands out a bit too much.

It's coming along really nicely,
just one question, why is he barely wearing clothes(yes I realize partly his clothes have been ruined, but that almost looks like a yutaka, I guess they'd wear that when not on duty, but I would have expected hakama at least).

Thnx for your comment, Sardtok.
I haven't drown cloth yet. But i think that i will paint hakama.
One question, are they wearing it with out top-part some times? (i mean only 'trousers")
Because i don't want to close his body with some cloth.

I can't really say what they usually wore, it's not unlikely that on a daily basis they wore yukata,
unless of course it's winter, then yukata would be too cold.
Also on duty I would expect they wouldn't wear yukata, even if they'd still carry their swords around, but I can't really say for sure.
Have you seen the shinsengumi outfit? It's very light, and has a very light jacket.
Possibly a lot of bushi would wear umanori hakama, simply because they rode horses.
I wouldn't really start adding more clothes, I was just wondering if you had an "excuse" for the choice, basically I figure you did it to make it more dramatic, and it looks very good.

it looks to me like he took off his jacket to wrap his wound. I like it the way it is.

composition wise I might move him over to one side of the scene, instead of dead center just to create interest.

follow the Fibonacci Spiral...your focal point should be in the small of the spiral

this is looking really cool though, keep going!!!!

Hi Duke.

The light coming through the window is very nice.
Moreover, his hair style became more real.
I think you have excellent talent at drawing the world surrounded in subtle profundity like this.

Well, have you seen the Japanese movie picture titled “seven samurais” of Akira Kurosawa?
It is famous movie picture that depicted realistic “samurai”.
And if it is possible for you to obtain it, I recommend you to read a manga book titled "Kodure Ookami"(English title is “LONE WOLF and CUB) authored by Gou Kojima. I think it might inspire you.

Cheers!

shoeach

Hey, Duke... looking good.
Don't blend everything... a few crisp shadows against the soft ones (on the figure) makes for drama and contrast. In the same way, highlights on the walls in background should be more subdued to bring your figure forward to increase the sense of depth.
My two cents worth (as if someone asked)
