Shake, Motion, or After Effects

Just wanted to know if anyone can help me figure out what software I need.

I have Final Cut Studio, and it comes with "Motion"

will Motion do everything that Shake or After Effects can do? I don't need much but I don't want to invest a lot of time learning Motion, if it is not a complete FX app.

I know there are not many video guys here, but any insight would be helpful

Motion its good for some banners and on-screen graphics. If you have 2 moniors its better because Motion displays a huge list of animatable things for a single object.
From the Apple page looks like Motion cant do the same things that Shake do (or at last not the same way)
Shake looks like a more complete app

Another one its Combustion (Autodesk) I own the V4 and its very good for video post
Combustion $995USD
AfterEffects $999USD
Shake $499USD

the 3 can work with FinalCut but only shake can read FinalC projects

Hope this helps

thanks Sadot, I was hoping you would reply to my question.

i have checked out shake, and it seems to do everything I would ever need. I'm going to have a little trouble with the whole "node" thing. but since so many apps are going towards a node approach, I guess I need to get used to it.

I haven't really looked at Combustion, but I will certainly check it out.

thanks again!
