Yea, I was drawing the Arm off the spine. I clicked instead of clicking and dragging because the manual didn't specify this change. So, I guess the solution is to always click and drag.

I do think that C6 should never change a parent bone when a new bone is added, even if the new bone isn't added the recommended way.

I wanna do a simple animated character in 6 Pro. Its been 5 hours and I still can't get a skeleton to work properly. I'm going back to Maya, F' this!

Click and drag the bones instead of just clicking. That should make all your bones go the right way.
