maybe it doesn't come from all from the AO, you seem to use soft shadow (low res maybe 512 ?)
Why not trying to increase the resolution of this shadow or try to use Area light/area shadow for realistic shadow.

For the displacement, just use bodypaint in 5sec you will create something for your coffe. ;-)
