Scam? I don't think so. You are trying to download the demo on the same day of 302's release. There must be 10,000 people downloading it right now. It's no surprise that your bit rate is slow. I downloaded 302 tonight via bittorrent.
700mb in less than 12 minutes! 
How is this a scam? Just wait a few days until things calm down. Anyway, your demo period starts from the day you first start running Modo. Not from when you download it...
