Issue 100 of 3d World UK has full version of Carrara 5.1pro, just order a back issue and there you go. I have both Carrara 6.1pro and Lightwave 9.3 and Lightwave seems more powerfull but Carrara is easier to use if you don't know much about 3D. I am a 3D newbie and found Kai's interface of Carrara to be very user friendly. Another consideration is DAZ. I hate to say this but they have the money to upgrade the hell out of carrara. They also have the market position to keep carrara from being another dead end piece of software. An illustration of this is their giving away of studio software for free and their promotions for upgrades of their 3d software products seem to be pretty regular. I hope this helps.
